Industry solutions

Every industry has special requirements. DEPAC will find an individual solution for you.

Supply systems

Supply systems ensure process reliability and extend the lifetime of a mechanical seal.

That is a mechanical seal

Mechanical seals are necessary to retain the pumping medium in the system circulation in plants in which rotary shafts are in use (for example pumps, compressors or agitators). A mechanical seal consists of two faces that are pressed together by means of axial force. In between them is a liquid lubricating film.

Mechanical seals are available in dynamic and stationary designs. The advantage of a mechanical seal with a stationary design: The spring elements are located in the stationary part of the mechanical seal system and thus cause no additional vibrations. Scoring on the sleeve, for example, is avoided as a result. The sleeve is thus no longer a wearing part - and can significantly reduce maintenance costs. The general rule is: stationary mechanical seals are more reliable than dynamic ones.

Individual mechanical seals for increasing operational reliability

The mechanical seals from DEPAC are adapted individually to the required area of application. There are standard solutions on the market for all chemicals or media that have to be sealed by a mechanical seal - but they often lead to considerable problems in operation. The individual adaptation of the mechanical seal to the boundary conditions of the application prolongs their service life enormously. An example? A ten percent change in the concentration or a temperature difference of ten degrees can completely change the behavioural pattern of the media - and hugely impair the function of the mechanical seal.

DEPAC distinguishes between nine different conditions when selecting a mechanical seal:

  1. Media containing solids
  2. Crystallising media
  3. Adhesive / hardening media
  4. Volatile or gaseous media
  5. Media with extreme temperatures
  6. Hazardous media
  7. Media with extreme pressures
  8. Extremely chemically aggressive media
  9. Special unit features

Furthermore, the following PLAN numbers are available as an aid:

PLAN numbers API
Return flushing 11
External flushing 32
Quench 62
Double mechanical seal with barrier fluid 54
Double mechanical seal with thermosiphon system 52, 53
Heating/cooling of the seal chamber 02
Avoidance of elaborate repairs

Mechanical seals are only a small part, but an enormously important one for the operational reliability of pumps, compressors and reactors. Above all with larger plants and units, faults can lead to elaborate maintenance and repair measures and cause high costs. The problem: essential standards are limping a long way behind technological developments. For that reason seals that aren't state of the art are still installed all too often, even in modern plants. The spare part market is therefore extremely lucrative for many pump and unit manufacturers.

Mechanical seals from DEPAC save money and trouble

As a small and independent manufacturer of mechanical seals, DEPAC has chosen to take a different route. The main innovation drivers for us are process safety and market transparency. The mechanical seals from DEPAC are more expensive to purchase than conventional seals. If one considers the entire life cycle of a unit, however, our customers save money and a whole lot of trouble.
